Years ago #Apple bought a company that developed tech to use multiple cameras to produce a single higher resolution image. I’m still disappointed my phone has a giant camera bump on the back instead of a dozen small sensors.
Yes, I realize they do some image combination with the existing cameras, but it’s not a real plenoptic array.

@shac but if they covered significantly more of the phone in sensors, we'd end up with fingers in every photo

@a Exclude the covered cameras from the shot. It’s the magic of synthetic apertures.
