extremely flashing lights
This is my best attempt at Fechner colours. I feel like Mastodon compression actually breaks it somehow?
Edit: Ah, never mind, it does work.
What's happening here? There are 6 frames in monochrome (black and grey). Three frames are black, then one frame says "red", one says "green" and one says "blue". All of them are still black and grey. But due to flashing and something called Fechner effect, the brain sometimes is tricked into seeing colours.

@nina_kali_nina fascinating. i see green, purple, and black respectively. no idea if my laptop (11" macbook air) or brain is at fault here 😅

@a I'm also at 11" Macbook Air, and I see red, green and purple-ish. I think it might depend on many factors though, sometimes I blink and it's all grey

@nina_kali_nina (11" gang 😮) played with it some more with my sibling, and it seems to vary by viewing angle; they see red on "red" from the side but green head-on. i'm still not sure i ever see red, but it's definitely not always green. sometimes yellow? lol. really interesting effect!
