my local grocery store just started selling chestnuts. i was amused by this because i never thought of them as a real item you could buy, merely symbols of christmas that exist in song. so i bought one (1) chestnut for a quarter and now its in my toaster oven.

@samhenrigold my dad buys those occasionally during holidays and it's.. a complete gamble? sometimes wonderful and soft, sometimes dry, sometimes rock hard, sometimes black and moldy. sometimes easy to peel, sometimes very difficult. lmao but maybe just the fault of where he gets them. idk anything about chestnuts

@a I was told that just one does not do it justice because it lacks critical chestnut mass (no steam from a big batch) so I didn’t get any of the scent either.

but now i’m thinking if i buy 30 of these suckers there’s a chance a portion will just be a rock

@samhenrigold common misconception. the "nut lobby" is actually just the name for the cloth they'll wait in until u eat
