question for the chemists: is silicone like a science word or is it equivalent to calling plastic "carbone"

@a I mean, there is a definition based on chemical formula: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicone
It's a family of compounds. I think a carbon-based equivalent would be "sugar", for example. "Carbone" as such does not exist... perhaps "organic compound" would be the nearest, least specific word.
